I was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia, now Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1951. I studied Zoology and Botany at the University of Cape Town and immigrated permanently to South Africa in 1977. I am an Environmental Professional who enjoys woodturning as a 'serious' hobby. I and my family are residents of Cape Town and are passionate about our city. I am married to Gigi and have two sons, Nicholas, (born 1981) and Christopher, (born 1983). Nicholas is occupied with Geology MSc at the University of Cape Town, while Christopher works in the IT industry. If the family are not in the workshop, or at the keyboard they are generally to be found up one or other mountain!
